Chemutai in double victory at Western Ladies Open in Kakamega

Faith Chemutai registered double victory at the ongoing Western Kenya Ladies Open played today at the Kakamega Sports Club.

After winning the second leg in Kisumu’s Nyanza Club, she added her second title today when she fired 75 gross for the title for a double.

The long hitting queen fired two birdies with a number of pars for the title as the 4th rounds heads to Nandi Bears on Thursday morning in Nandi County.

She will now be playing on home club hoping for better results than what she has been earning in other clubs.

“It was a celebration with double and back to back victory. After Nyanza win and today’s win has propelled my status in the series,” said Chemutai.

She started well with a two club in the opening hole par 5, bogeyed in second, pars on 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9th for a total of one under par 35 in the first nine.

On nresumpion, she started with a par in the 10th bogeyed in the 11th back to back pars in 12th, 13th and 14th before dropping one shot in 15th recovered with par, dropped one in 17th and closed the day with bogeyed for a total of four over par 40.

Vet lab’s golfer Mercy Nyanjoma was Division A gross winner after firing five over par 77 with former Eldoret captain Esther Chumo to second on 85. Still in Division A, Kericho’s Dorcas Bett was the net winner with 74 as Kitale’s Phyllis Kisuna was second on 76 nett.

Division B Gross winner was Rebecca Gikuru on 93 followed by Kakamega’s Irene Asieya. Net winner was C.W Mungai with 71 net as Nandi Bear’s Eileen Jepchumba was second with a score of 71 nett.

With Division C playing in stable ford, Kakamega’s Mikal Komo was the victor after carding 40 points followed by Nyanza club’s Cornilla Obare on 29 points with Antonina Mbuthia walking home with Junior title on 80 gross.
