The reigning World 3000m steeplechase record holder Beatrice Chepkoech will be facing off with Ethiopian Tsehay Gemechu and Francine Niyonsaba at Saturday’s San Silvestre Vallecana 10km race.
Making her journey in road running, Chepkoech will be chasing to close the year on a high note in the New Year’s Eve in Madrid, Spain ahead of 2023 season.
The duo will be chasing to lower Brigid Kosgei’s course record that stands at 29:54 set in 2019.
Chepkoech, who has dominated track events in water and barriers, will be chasing another breakthrough in road running.
Gemechu comes to the race to extend the Ethiopian winning streak after Yalemzerf Yehualaw and Degitu Azimeraw won the previous two editions.
Niyonsaba, who has been enjoying road race and cross-country success, will also be looking to shine in Madrid.
