Reigning Olympic Games 1,500m champion Faith Chepng’etich was the best Kenyan at the second leg of Diamond League in Florence, France.
The world 1,500m silver medalist finished second behind Netherland’s Sifan Hassan in 1,500m ran on Thursday night.
She won silver in 3:53.91 behind Hassan’s 3:53.63 in a repeat of 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar where they finished in similar version. Laura Muir completed the podium in 3:55.59.
Returning into action Olympic and world 3,000m steeplechase champion Conseslus Kipruto failed to complete the race just as compatriot Wilberforce Chemiat Kones.
Kenya’s Robert Koech Kiprop was in 8th position in 5,000m race won by Jakob Ingebrigtse.
Kiprop managed 13:12.56 with Ingebrigtsen timing 12:48.45 for the title ahead of Hagos Gebrhiwet (12:49.02) and Mohammed Ahmed in 12:50.12 in second and third positions respectively.
