Olympic Games 1,500m champion Faith Chepngetich and world cross country champion Hellen Obiri will be on track for Kenya as they start to defend their titles for Kenya at the Khalifa International Stadium in the ongoing World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Chepn’getich will be defending her title in women’s 1,500m on Wednesday evening in the first round when she won the title two years ago in London clocking 4:02.59 and will be facing World record holder Genzebe Dibaba from Ethiopia as well as Great Britain’s Laura Muir and Sifan Hassan who won 10,000m two days ago.
Obiri will be chasing her title when she lines up in the women’s 5000m first round on Wednesday.
After finishing 5th in 10,000m, Obiri will be marshalling forces with Lilian Kasait and Margaret Chelimo.
The national champion Kasait timed 15:43.55 to win the national trials ahead of Chelimo (15:46.65).
