World marathon champion Ruth Ruth Chepngetich won the Nagoya Women marathon held today in Nagoya, Japan.
The Mumbai marathon winner won the race in 2:17:18 becoming the second fastest ever women-only marathon beating Kenyan-born turn Israel Lonah Chemtai Salpeter.
The win has put the reigning women only marathon record holder Mary Keitany world record with a few seconds as he enjoys a 2:17:01 set in London in 2017.
The 2020 Tokyo Marathon winner Salpeter was second in 2:18:45 as Japan’s Yuka Ando was third in 2:22:22 followed by Japanese Ai Hosoda and Yuka Suzuki were next to finish, running 2:24:26 and a debut 2:25:02 respectively to finish fourth and fifth.
