Marceline Cherono booked an automatic qualification to the national cross country championshps cum trials for Africa cross country after she turned up a lone for the championships.
But Shadrack Kipchirchir won the 10km title to book for a national slot at the Nyanza North region cross country championships held at Rabuor in Kisumu County yesterday.
Representing Siaya County, Kipchirchir won the title in 38:16 ahead of Willy Kiprono (40:08) and Caleb Otieno in 43:06 Evans Omondi (43:49) and John Bosco (44:21) were fourth and fifth respectively.
In the 6km junior women, Naomi Kemboi won the title in 25:15 beating Cynthia Adhiambo (35:46) and Eunice Achieng for third in 38:02 as Ronald Mutai (29:50) won the 8km junior women title edging out Bernard Kiprono (29:51) Victor Otieno (31:55) and Brian Otieno (32:16).
Shadrack Yego emerged victorious in 6km under 18 title in 22:33 stunning Dommie Kipnyango (22:44), Kennedy Ochieng (23:29) as Sheila Kwambai won the the girl’s 5km in 22:21 beating Sharon Nekesa (23:03) and Cynthia Chelangat (23:29).
