Former world half marathon silver medalist Cynthia Jerotich Limo and double Paris marathon champion Paul Lonyangata will highlight this Sunday’s Honolulu marathon.
Limo will be making her debut in the 42km distance after enjoying 66.04 in the half marathon set during the Carmel and Toledo Half Marathons.
The Kenyan girl will be up against Ethiopian Kasu Bitew Lemeneh the third finisher at Madrid marathon as well as compatriot Sintayehu Tilahun Getahun (2:22.19) to battle for the course record of 2:22.15 set five years ago by Kenya’s Brigid Kosgei.
Returning from ban, Lonyangata will start his fresh journey as the fastest time athlete with 2:06.10 set in 2017 at Paris Marathon
Lonyangata will be facing off with compatriot and three time Kosice Marathon champion Reuben Kiprop Kerio.
Lonyangata and Kerio will have huge obstacle between them and the top prize as they will face the man who has not won any race or finished on the podium but holds the fastest time on the entry list, Abayneh Degu of Ethiopia, who holds a lifetime best of 2:04.53 that he got two years ago at Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris, where he finished in fifth place.
McKirdy Micro – On the Cusp – Marathon champion, Tsegay Weldlibanos and Filmon Ande both from Eritrea with personal best of 2:09.07 and 2:06.38 will also be on the start line as they battle for the top honors.
