Former London Marathon champion Vivian Cheruiyot and Philemon Kacheran Lokedi, the man who paced for Eliud Kipchoge at the October Ineos 1:59 Challenge were top Kenyans at the Valencia marathon ran on Sunday 1st December in Spain.
The reigning 5,000m champion, Cheruiyot came in 4th position in women’s race while Kacheran was in 5th position in men.
Cheruiyot (2:18.52) finished 4th behind Ethiopians Roza Dereje (2:18.31), Azmera Abreha (2:18.34) and Birhane Dibaba Adugna (2:18.47) in an all podium finish for Ethiopians.
Kacheran was in 5th psotion timing 2:06.04 behind Kinde Afanaw Alayew with the Ethiopia in 2:03.51 followed by Kenyan born turned Turkish international Kaan Kigen Ozbilen formerly Mike Kigen in second position in 2:04.16 as Ethiopians Guye Idemo Adola (2:04.42) and Abebe Negewo Degefa (2:04.51) in third and 4th positions respectively.
