Reigning world 1,500m champion Timothy Cheruiyot, Abel Kipsang and Charles Simotwo all qualified to compete at the semi-finals of the ongoing Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The Tuesday morning encounter at the Olympics Stadium, finished second in heat one timing 3:36.01 in a race won by Belgium’s Ismael Debjani in 3:36.00.
Kipsang won heat two in 3:40.68, but Charles Simotwo had to painfully wait to know if he had qualified from heat three after finishing 10th in 3:27.26.
