Wisley Kipkemoi Yego successfully defended the Chemuusu half marathon title held yesterday in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County while Beatrice Cheserek triumphed in thw women race.
Yego, who last year won the title before heading to claim the Iten International Marathon three weeks later managed to defend the title when he timed 64:33 ahead of Mathew Kipkorir Kimeli to second position in 64:52 with three time Eldoret City marathon champion Victor Kipchirchir completing the podium at 65:25.
In the marathon women, Cheserek, the Kapsabet half marathon champion won the title at 74:10 leading upsstart Milicent Jelimo to second in 74:19 and Christine Nthambi Kioko completing the podium wheh she timed 74:21.
Fresh from winning a bronze medal at the Porto half marathon, Johanna Erot won the 10km title with Faith Jerono claiming the men cateory.
Erot, the 3,000m runner managed to win the coveted title when he cut the tape in 30:51:53 relegating Victor Otieno Okoth to second at 31:01:72 and Amos Kiprotich on third position in 31:09:44.
Jerono won the 10km title when she stopped the timer at 35:03:01 with Mercy Chepchumba Kirwa (35:05:08) coming second before Diana Chepteek Cheroben finishing third at 36:14:08.
