Chipu defeats Senegal at Barthes Cup Opener

Kenya’s Under 20 rugby15s national team Chipu defeated Senenegal in the opening matches of Barthes Cup match played at Nyayo national stadium.

The defending champions thrashed their visitors 50-03 to start their title defence in high when kenya made two tries in the first half with Andrew Matoka opening the try in the 5th minute with Arnold Onzere failing to convert for a 5-0 lead before landing a penalty for 8-0 lead and William Opaka landed the second try that Matoka failed to convert for a 13-0 lead into water break.

On resumption, Ibrahim Ayodi made the third that that was easily converted by Matoka for a 20-0 lead for Chipu then Edwin Nyachio made the 4th try as mmatoka converted for 27-0.

Senegal earned their three points but the celebration did not last as Opaka bagged a brace bagged a brace with Oduor’s dived try before captain Jude Baraka try was converted by Opaka as Matoka landed a brace for 45-3 and Tyson Juma Maina scored off Kenya’s final unconverted try.
