CIC Golf Tournament: Four birdies, good enough for Joseph Nzomo tolift the title

It was a good harvest for home golfer Joseph Nzomo as he sunk four birdies to lift the CIC Golf Tournament title held on par 73 Kitale Golf course on Saturday Nanu Hassanali wins DSTV Golf in Nakuru.Handicap 06 played level net and six over Gross 79 to become the champion in the CIC Insurance sponsored tournament.

He started on a good note in the first nine sinking two birdies in the first two holes, adding four pars in holes three, four, six and eight to end with two bogeys on holes seven and nine to finish the opening nine with one over Gross 38.

In the outward nine, it was rosy for the business guru in Kitale town. Though he started well with two birdies in the 10th and 11th holes, three double bogeys on holes 13th, 16th and 18th slowed him down but with three pars on holes 12th, 14th and 17th were good for him to complete with five over Gross 41.

He also stood on the podium for the second time to receive longest drive men prize after shooting 275 yards on hole 18 as lady captain Hannah Rutenbar took the women’s prize.

He attributed his win to the playable course as greens were well done.

“I had good playing partners like Pro. Dismas Indiza, who is also my coach and my swing was smooth.Generally i can say the day was mine,” said Nzomo.

He added that the course was playing long which was good for him since he is a long hitter.

Handicap 23 golfer Hillary Rotich finished second with one over net 74 followed by Jonathan Cheruiyot who lost to Rotich on count back.

Lowest Gross winner went to handicap 2 golfer Philip Shiharsy who played five over 78.

Jonah Cheruiyot won the nearest to the pin prize following her 172 yard exploit on hole 17.

Josephine Chesang was the first nine winner with 32.50 while Hillary Rotich was the second nine prize winner.

In Nakuru Nanu Hassan was the winner of this year’s DSTV golf Day on par 73 Nakuru course.

Handicap 24 scored 40 stable ford points toemerge the top followed by Joseph Ngure (15) in second place with 37 points, before Esto Gentral (4) completed the podium with 37 points.
Lady winner was Josephine Wangari (15)  after garnering 36 points, J K Rutto  (12) was the men Prize winner, Paul Muhia (2) emerged the Gross winner with 35 points.
