City Stars, Vihiga, Ulinzi and Rangers win

Nairobi City Stars, Ulinzi Stars and Posta Rangers registered their respective wins in today’s Kenya Premier League matches played across the country.

At Ruaraka grounds, Peter Opiyo converted from the spot to guide City Stars, who came from a goal down to beat visiting Western Stima 2-1 to climb to 8th position with 26 points on the log.

Rodgers Ouma fired first in the 39th minute for the visiting Stima for a 1-0 lead but Erick Ombija leveled the scores for a 1-1 draw in the 84th minute before Opiyo struck the winner in the 86th minute.

Ulinzi Stars humiliated Bandari FC at their backyard at Mbaraki stadium.

The soldiers collected maximum points with a convincing 3-1. Ulinzi managed a 2-0 at halftime with goals from John Kago and Boniface Onyango and after resumption, Omar Boraafya netted the third for 3-0 lead before William Wadri scored a consolation through a penalty for a 3-1 win.

At Ruaraka’s second match, Posta Rangers shocked league leaders Tusker with 1-0.

Josephat Lopanga came off the bench to strike in the 80th minutes to deny the 11-time champions the opportunity to go five points clear at the top of the 17-team league.
