Three Kenyan athletes have qualified to compete in Commonwealth Games women’s 800m final slated for Friday morning in Gold Coast, Australia.
Margaret Nyairera, Eglay Nalyanya and Emily Cherotich booked for a final race to square out with South African Caster Semenya who is doubling the club games after winning 1,500m title, denying Kenya the first gold, relegating Celliphine Chespol to silver.
Nyairera, Cherotich and Semenya won their Heats as Nalyanya finishing second.
Priscilla Tabunda failed to progress in women’s 100m hurdles after finishing 7th in 14:18 with only top three finishers allowed to progress.
But it was disappointing as former world 400m hurdle champion Nicholas Bett and his brother Aron Koech failed to win the first gold for Kenya as they faded off the finish line as Kenya is yet to bag gold at these championships.
