Commonwealth Games: Team Kenya’s losing streak continues in Gold Coast

Kenyan hunt for gold continues to evade as majority of the them bowing out of the championships earlier than expected today.

The losing streak continued in various categories such as shooting, Table Tennis, Lawn Bowls, squash badminton among others.

Team Kenya’s  performance has gone under compared to last edition in Glasgow, Scotland after Kenya has lost gold medals in events they won at the last games in Glasgow like men’s 5,000m, women’s 1,500m and women’s 10,000m through Caleb Mwangangi Ndiku, Faith Chepgng’etich and Joyce Chepkirui respectively.

In Lqwn Bowls men singles, Cephas Kimwaki lost 21-14 to England’s Robert Paxton in the fifth round at the Broadbeach Bowls Club while Christopher Saina lost at the final of Belmont Full Bore Range.

At the Oxenford Studios Kenyan pair of Brian Mutua and Sejal Thakkar lost 3-2 to Sri Lanka’s Jayasingha Mudisawithana/ Erandi Warusawithana in table tennis in 12-10, 9-11, 11-2, 7-11, 11-9.

At the same venue, Kenyans were quashed out in squash mixed doubleswith Kenyan pair of Hardeep Reel and Khaaliqa Nimji lost to Marlene West/ Cameroon Stafford of the tiny Cayman Islands 2-0 (11-5, 11-8).

Kenyan top seed Victor Odera lost the badminton round of 32 to Jamaican Dennis Coke 2-0 (21-14, 21-17).
