Construction of 20,000 seater 64 stadium has begun and is expected to take 15 months before completion.
The county government of Uasin Gishu, in collaboration with World Bank, the facility, which is the home for Division Two side GFE 105 and track and field athletes is estimated to cost Kshs 1.1 billion is a flagship projects for Governor Jackson Mandago.
While on a tour of the project, the Eldoret Municipality Manager Tito Koiyet said the construction work had taken off well and that they expect work to be completed as scheduled without delay.
“We are happy to see good progress on the site by the contractor and if all goes well, the project might be completed before the set deadlineā€¯ said Koiyet.
Governor Jackson Mandago is expected to officially launch the construction work at the site soon.
“The stadium once complete will benefit sports women and men from not only the county but also the entire country ,”said Koiyet.
