Ebenyo and Jepkorir rule national cross country championships in Eldoret

Reigning world 10,000m silver medalist Daniel Ebenyo Simiu and former Boston Half Marathon champion Brillian Jepkorir were the winners of the 2025 Athletics Kenya National Cross Country Championships held today at the Eldoret Sports Club.

Representing National Police, said that he used the National Cross Country championships ahead of Seoul Marathon next month.

The World Road Running Half Marathon silver medallist timed 30:48.0, beating Kenya Wildlife Service Nickson Kogei to second at 30:52.6 and Central’s Simon Mungai completing the podium at 30:55.7.

“I came to this race to test my speed. The pace was not easy; it was a tough battle and I am happy that I won the race,” said Simiu.

Returning from maternity leave, Jepkorir won the 10km senior women title and representing Kenya Prisons in 34:29.1, edged out the Wurzburger Residentzlauf 10km champion Maurine Jepkoech from North Rift, who came in second  at 32:32.7 with Commonwealth 10,000m silver medalist Stacy Ndiwa of police settling for third in 34:54.

Former London Marathon and New York City champion Joyciline Jepkosgei was 4th.

Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi and former World Under-20 1500m champion Purity Chepkirui savoured victories in their respective categories in the 2km loop.
