Reigning Commonwealth Games 5,000m silver medalist Daniel Ebenyo Simiu and three time National Shot Put champion Peter Maina Mwangi were crowned the champions of Kip Keino Classic title at the Kasarani stadium.
Ebenyo won the 10,000m national category in 28:09.93 ahead of Edwin kipkemoi Seko (28:30.05) and Stanley Nihijia for third position after timing 28:30.61.
Three time Mwangi won the first field event. The Kenya Prisons won the shot Put title when he threw 16.25m to emerge victorious in a competition that attracted eight Kenyans.
The man who has dominated national Athletics kenya weekend meets across the country won the national category.
He edged out former national champion Benson Maina, who threw 15.86m with Fredrick Kiprop Chumba took third place with a throw of 15.30m.
The score was the same as the one he set during Athletics Kenya meet in Kisumu.
With his focus to represent the country at the World championships in Budapest, Hungary, Mwangi said that it was his plan to improve on his throws to ensure that he earns the slot.
“Winning at home is good for me as I plan for world championships in Budapest. I have had a good run in the weekend meets and I have a vision to represent the country,” said Mwangi.
