The reigning world 10,000m silver medalist Daniel Ebenyo Simiu won the Kolkata 25km ran held morning in Kolkata, India with a course record.
Ebenyo, the World road running half marathon silver medalist won the race in 1:11.13 ahead of compatriot Victor Togom in 1:12.26 in an all Kenyan 1-2 podium finish with Ethiopian Tesfaye Demeke completing the podium in 1:13.36.
“My focus now is to set half marathon record very soon. Coming here, I did not know that I will run this good and all has been through the grace of God,” said Ebenyo.
In women, Ethiopian Sutume Kebede was victorious cutting the tape in 1:18.47 ahead of compatriot Yelmzerf Yehualaw (1:19.26) and Kenyan Betty Kibet coming third in 1:21.43.
