With rampant doping cases in the country, Athletics Kenya has taken the initiative to educate young athletes.
Today, the federation’s chairman of youth committee Barnaba Korir advised young athletes, the world under 20 runners to run clean.
Speaking while meeting the young from North Rift region on Monday in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, Korir said that the federation has incorporated Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) to fight the vice.
“As a federation, we are concerned about junior runners in this country that is why I have made an effort to come and talk to you over this. The country has invested a lot in juniors and coming to this seminar, you need to understand that doping is bad,” said Korir.
Junior coach Robert Ngisirei said for the country to enjoy the fruits of their running career, they need to get such education to guide them.
“This is a good start to these athletes who can be great runners in future. If we wait for them to mature, they may lose direction,” said Ngisirei.End
