Newcomers Eldonets won the first round of men’s Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) play-offs quarterfinals played on Saturday 26th at Uasin Gishu High school Court in Eldoret.
The hosts edged out Thunder 63:53 in the first round out of three as they prepare for the return leg in Nairobi next weekend.
This followed their last meeting at the same venue when hosts won by 69-59 and now they will be chasing one win to progress into the semifinals.
In the game, Eldonets lost the opening quarter 12-15, recovered well in the second with a 14-10 followed by a 21-8 and completed with a 16-20 for the win.
Playing at home, George Oyoo and John Ajak were top scorers with 12 and 10 baskets respectively while Griffin Ligare on 20 and Nate Terry 10 for the visitors.
As men dominated the courts, their women were also on rampage, beating Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) 61-41 in the second tier.
