Eldonets took home advantage to stun visiting Emyba in the Kenya Basketball Federation league played today Uasin Gishu High school.
In the ladies section, Riara University beta hosts Eldonet Ladies 33-43 at the same venue.
The win was a revenge for Eldoret who had lost by half a basket in the opening fixture at Nyayo stadium at 62-60 three months ago.
the two teams made their maiden appearance at the top tier this season with
hosts winning 83-66 in 21-26, 15-21, 21-26 and 17-12.
Emyba’s Tony Mwendwa and Eugene Adera were top shooters with 19 and 13 points while Eldonets’ Clifford Mumbo and George Oyoo were on 13 and 11.
Head coach Maurice Ouma was optimistic that they will play well at the playoffs since they are within the brackets of top eight as they have remained with three matches to the end of the season.
“They played their heart out
which was good for the team. This makes us join the list of teams into the
playoffs despite making our first appearance,” said Ouma.
Eldonets also won the promotional play-offs.
