Eldoret Falcons came from a goal down to collect maximum points against Makolanders in the Kenya Women Premier league (KWPL) match played today at The Eldoret Polytechnic ground.
The Josphat Pilishi led team conceded the first goal in the 19th minute through Lilian Njeri but Cynthia Mukhanji and Janet Moraa Bundi ensured that the home team wins the match with a final 2-1 scoreline.
Hosts dominated the match, failing to utilize their numerous scoring chances before Njeri broke the deadlock.
The goal resurrected home team and Mukhanji, who scored twice against Baringo Starlets on Saturday, leveled for Falcons on 33rd minute before Bundi sealing the victory in 79th minute.
With 47 points from 23 matches, Falcons will be facing Oserian Queens in the next match on Saturday in Naivasha, aiming to extend the lead following a 1-0 lead in the reverse fixture in Eldloret.
The score was good for Makolanders who conceded 7-1 in the first fixture in Camp Toyoyo, Nairobi.
“We got these points sweat. We had lost the ground but once we recovered, we had to win. Our focus now is on the next match against Oseriani which has been a posing a great challenge to us,” said Pilishi.
On Saturday, Falcons beat winless Baringo Starlets 4-0 with Mukhanji netting a race before playing to a barren draw against reigning champions Vihiga Queens.
