Eldoret Falcons targeting all points in the weekend’s double-header

Cash strapped Eldoret Falcons will be seeking a double win they tackle two away matches in the ongoing Kenya Women premier (KWPL) action.

The Eldoret based team will be in a double-header against Thika Queens on Saturday before facing off with Gaspo Women at Thika and Ruiru Stadium respectively.

With their three players in the national team that is preparing for the 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers against Malawi next month, the team will be seeking for maximum points and leave Kiambu County with 6 points.

Under Joshua Ariko, the team will be banking on Harambee Starlets call up Annette Kundu, the goalkeeper, Janet Moraa Bundi, midfielder and Ruth Milani Ingotsi in striking force.

After registering poor results in the first leg, the team has re-energysed in the second-round winning the opener against Wadadia 3-1 at the University of Eldoret ground and lost by a solitary goal to Kisumu All Starlets courtesy of Maureen Airo, another Harambee Starlets call up.

Ariko said they blundered in the opening leg but this time, they want to improve and make proper preparations to earn maximum points.

“We have done the best to win in this leg. It has been a long struggle for us as a team with financial challenges but we are always on the heels to make all ends meet. Despite all of them, we have the power and zeal to register big wins to make us remain in the league,” said Ariko.

The team gave out a walkover on the first leg but they are hoping to honour all their fixtures this last round.

“We gave out unnecessary points but we want to ensure that we honour all away fixtures to finish top five in the league. That will propel our girls, as they are called up for the national duties,” added Ariko.
