Gusii stadium was full of celebrations and mourning when Eldoret Youth trounced hosts Shabana FC in the top of the table FKF Division One Zone B battle at Gusii stadium today.
The Eldoret based team continued with their unbeaten run as they chase their maiden promotion to the National Super League (NSL).
Hosea Kipchirchir scored the lone goal in the 93rd minute as the match was coming to an end to ensure the visitors collect maximum points.
The striker utilized on the defense confusion to slip in the shot, sending traveling fans into a frenzy.
It was a total heartache as former Kenya Premier League (KPL) side Shabana which is struggling to gain entry into the top flight football in the country.
Eldoret Captain Dennis Injeni was a happy man, leading the celebrations after the win. Injeni said his team is targeting the KPL promotion and not just the NSL.
“We want to bring football back to Eldoret, the area well known for producing best footballers un the gone days. Our target to play at the KPL, not the NSL, which many teams stagnate at,” said Injeni.
Eldoret Youth under the tutelage of Peter Kipchircir leads the table with 53 points from 20 matches, won 16, drawn four and losing none, scoring 39 goals, conceding eight.
