Eliud Kipchoge bless athletes set for ABSA Sirikwa Cross Country

Double Olympic Games marathon champion has told athletes a heading for the 4th edition of ABSA Sirikwa Cross Country championships on Saturday February 22nd to go for the top prizes.

Speaking at his Global Communication Sports Training camp in Kaptagat during Social corporate Responsibility activities, the former world marathon record holder said that the race will leave a legacy in the many young athletes who will be showcasing their talents.

“I want to tell athletes going for Sirikwa to work very hard, focus on the prize, try actually to run the way they have been training and come home with flying colours. I want to tell them that any number is a good number for each one of them,” said the four time London marathon champion.

Kipchoge, the winner of the 2024 Chicago marathon said that as senior athletes, they practice what they say so that the young people can learn from his doings.

“As far as I am concern, young athletes see what I do personally and as a team. We inject them with good knowledge. And the Safest route to succeed is to identify a group of people, invest in them, expose their careers, promote their careers and there will be the light,” added Kipchoge.

He emphasized that he believes in knowledge, which is power and the only thing to do as a young man is gaining knowledge, calling for corperate to come on board to safeguard as many athletes as possible.

“Many athletes many challenges especially in food and accommodation. For them to shine, we offer a wholistic training to be better than us in future. We believe that the generation that is under us will be better than us. What we are looking for is more cooperates to come in and offer the Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information Technology (IT), which rules the world,” said the former world champion.

Also present was ABSA Bank regional manager Julius Songok, who said that they have partnered and networked well, training athletes on financial wellness, encourage and share education and the good spirit of hard work.

“It is amazing to see Eliud inspiring young athletes, making them know that each story matters. We are sponsoring Sirikwa Classic and part of athletes competing will come from this camp and most prominent athletes comes from here. We want to give them confidence to empower them with a story at a time,” said Sogok.
