Equity and KDF to battle for KVF semifinal slot as GSU, Kenya Prisons and KPA make the cut

Champions General Service Unit (GSU) and KCB will lead other eight teams, four men and four women at the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National semifinals in Mombasa in search of the 2025 champion.

Following the conclusion of quarterfinals today, the stage is set for the semifinals and finals that will be played in Mombasa’s Makande Hall on the weekend of May 23rd to 25th.

In men, Kenya Prisons, GSU, and Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) have sailed through to the semi-finals after completing a double in the game two of the three best of series quarterfinal encounters staged at Kasarani Stadium Indoor Arena.

Kenya Prisons stunned Kenya Forest Service (KFS) 3-1 while KPA edged Trail Blazers 3-0.

GSU on the other side stunned KAPU in straight sets in both legs to book a semi-final berth. Equity on the other side forced a decider clash against KDF after overturning a 3-1 defeat to stun the Soldiers 3-2 in the second leg.

Equity Bank qualified into the semifinals following their 3-2 win over Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in a five-setter thriller of 29–27, 22–25, 21–25, 25–21, and 20–18.

KPA qualified following 2-0 win against Trailblazers in straight sets in both legs.

After cruising through Game 1 yesterday, 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-22) KPA returned on today and delivered another commanding performance, winning Game 2 3-0 (25-17, 25-16 and 25-20) and will now advance to the semifinal.

KPA is joined by GSU and Prisons Kenya waiting the final match between Equity Bank and KDF who will play their third match tomorrow.

Both Equity and KDF have won one match each and going for the decider tomorrow.

In women’s quarterfinal matches held at Nyayo National Stadium Gymnasium, defending champions KCB, Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), Kenya Prisons and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) all sealed semi-final berths after completing all double.

Kenya Prisons were 3-0 winners over Kenya Army in the military encounter at 25-18, 25-9 and 25-14, former champions KPC reorded an easy win against Nairobi Prisons in straight sets of 25-5, 25-18 and 25-11 before champions KCB edging out Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in another straight sets of 22-25, 13-25 and 12:25 and DCI was too good for Post Bank winning with similar margin of 8-25, 19-25 and 12-25.
