Fresh from winning her 4th World Championships 1,500m title in Tokyo, Japan, Kenya Faith Kipyegon successfully defended her Athlos one Mile title, running the fastest time on the American soil.
The world record holder in the race, won the women-only professional series at the Icahn Stadium in New York City when she locked 4:17.78 ahead of Ethiopia’s Gudaf Tsegay, and Susan Ejore-Sanders with American holder Nikki Hiltz who clocked 4:19.75 and 4:32.51
Kipyegon had earlier this year, broke the world record in the 1500m at the Prefontaine Classic and came close to achieving another milestone in Paris, where she attempted to become the first woman to run a sub-four-minute mile.
In Tokyo, Kipyegon won gold in the 1,500m before finishing second in the 5,000m behind Beatrice Chebet.
