FIFA World Cup: England, Argentina advance into semifinals

England and Argentina were the last nations to advance into the semifinals of the ongoing FIFA World Cup Co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico after edging out Norway and Australia respectively.

Norway 1-2 England

Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham scored twice as England came from a goal down to beat Norway in the quarterfinals in a match played at the Miami stadium, USA.

Andreas Schjelderup handed Norway the lead in the 36th minute for a 1-0 lead but Bellingham restored the parity in the 45+2 for 1-1 into half time.

On resumption, Bellingham doubled the score in the 90+3 minute to seal the victory for Thomas Tuchel side to book Argentina at the semifinals.

Argentina 3-1 Switzerland

Holders Argentina had to wait until 121 minutes to beat ten men Switzerland to book the semifinal slot.

The Lionel Sebastien Scalon coached Argentina won 3-1 against resilient Murat Yakin coached side Switzerland and will play England come Wednesday.

Alexis Mac Allister scored first in the 10th minute for a 1-0 lead for the champions but Switzerland leveled through Dan Ndoye in the 67th minute, that forced the match into the extra time.

However in the 72nd minute Breel Embolo was red carded.

Julian Alvarez handed Argentina the lead with his 112th minute goal for 2-1 before Lautaro Martinez sealed the victory in the 121st minute.
