Former Commonwealth marathon champion Flomena Cheyech Daniels will face off with Magdalene Masai for Shanghai marathon title on Sunday 18th in China.
Returning from a knee injury that kept her out of competition for long, Cheyech will be working her way to redeem her winning formula as an experienced marathon runner.
“After finishing 19th at Nagoya marathon, I picked an injury but now I have recovered well ahead of the race,” said the former Toronto Waterfront marathon.
The West Pokot born runner won the Paris marathon title before she was named in the marathon team for 2014 Commonwealth marathon title ahead of Caroline Kilel.
Last month, Cheyech finished second at the annual Family Bank half marathon in Eldoret behind world half marathon record holder Joyciline Jepkosgei as part of her preparations for the race set for 18th November in the Chinese City.
“I have been training well and running a few half marathons as part of my training ahead of Shanghai marathon,” said Cheyech.
The former Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) half marathon champion added that for now, she is relaxing, doing little exercise waiting for the race.
“Right now I have no much to say but just waiting for the day to come and face the world,” said Cheyech, the former Porto Alegre marathon champion.
The 2013 Vienna marathon champion will marshal forces with veteran runner Lydia Cherome I as well as Seoul marathon winner Margaret Agai who finished 5th last year.
