Francis Gitau won the Chairman’s Putter golf tournament played on 18 hole Kitale golf club.
Handicap 19 golfer, despite shooting a blank managed card a total of 41 stable ford points to win the title, to start the 2020 golf events in the club.
Playing on home course, Gitau started on a high, firing a two club on hole one par 5 but the next hole, he fired a blank on par 5 recovered with a par on three dropped one in 4 par 4, a par on five, bogeyed in 6th, parred on 7th and 9th with a bogey in between in the inward nine.
In the last nine, he started well, playing level in 10th and 11th pars 5, dropped two in12th recovered with a par on 13th par 3, dropped two in 14th par 5, lost one in 15th parred in 16th double bogeyed in 17th and ended with a bogey in 18th.
Former Eldoret club chairman Hellen Yego carded 38 points to finish second. Handicap 26 player beat Nandi Bears golfer Faith Chemtai and former Kitale captain Patrice Tomno on count back.
