Former world javelin champion Julius Yego won the javelin title in the gold rush for team Kenya at the Africa Senior Athletics championships in Reduit, Mauritius on Sunday.
The Olympic Games silver medalist threw 79.69 to win the javelin title to guide Kenya beat Ethiopians to finish on top of the continent with 23 medals; 10 gold, five silver and eight bronze
On the last day, managed 11 medals with five gold, three silver and three bronze followed by South Africa with 36 medals; nine gold, 13 silver and 14 bronze with Nigeria coming in third with 11 medals; five gold, three silver and three bronze.
Yego won his 4th continental title with a revenge against Ihab Al Sayed Abdelrahman from Egypt to second place with 77.12m as South Africa’s Phillippus Marthinus got bronze with 74.10m.
