Greg Snow set to extend the Safari Tour lead at Thika Greens

With a narrow lead of1.5 points, Greg Snow is expected to provide a healthy competition at the fourth leg of Safari Tour Golf Series that tees-off on tomorrow on par 72 Thika Greens Golf Resort.

The tournament, which has attracted forty six golfers brings together East Africa top golfers for the final leg of the tour for the year ahead of 2019 Kenya Open Golf championships on Karen Golf club.

Snow won the back to back titles at Limuru and Vet Lab and finished second in the opening leg Nyali to keep his hopes alive of winning the overall title.

The series teed off in Nyali (won by David Wakhu), Vet Lab and Limuru Golf Clubs with Mumias golfer Dismas Indiza in second position.

According to the organisers, a field 46 golfers have so far confirmed participation, including five amateurs, three professionals from Tanzania and one from Uganda.

David Wakhu, Justus Madoya, CJ Wangai and Rizwan Charania will be out to narrow the gap between them and the run-away series leaders. The field of five amateurs will be looking to replicate Michael Karanga’s great performance in Limuru.

Tanzania’s Nuru Mollel will be making a return to the tour after missing out on the Nyali and Limuru legs, with counterparts Fadhyl Nkya and Isaac Wanyeche will be making their maiden appearances.

Kenyan amateurs Akshay Chandaria  from the Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club and Zubair Khan from the Muthaiga Golf Club are expected to take part in the tournament.  The main tournament will be preceded by a Golf clinic today,Friday 14th December 2018, where the professional golfers will take over 30children from around Thika, through various aspects of the sport.

This will then be followed by a Pro-Am tournament on Saturday leading up to the main tournament from Sunday 16th to 19th December, where the professionals will be battling for a stake of the KES. 1 Million Prize kitty.

The Safari Tour is organized by the Kenya Open Golf Limited, is aimed at preparing Kenyan pro golfers for the 2019 Kenya Open Golf Championship.
