Harambee Starlets prepares for Africa show

Sixteen players reported to the training camp today as Harambee Starlets hit the camp ahead of Africa Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) set for next month on Accra, Ghana.

But the training camp at Utalii Grounds was not full as professional players like Esse Akida and Marjolene Nekesa will not be featured in the team as they are engaged.

The david Ouma led team will be playing the AWCON for the second time in a row set to kick off on 17th November to December 1 in Ghana kicked off in top gear.

The Starlets are pooled in group “B” alongside Banyana Banyana of South Africa, Shepolopolo of Zambia and defending champions Super Falcons of Nigeria.

Group “A” has hosts Ghana, Cameroon, Mali and Algeria.

The first two teams in each group progress to the semi-finals while the top three at the tourney will earn a ticket to next year’s Fifa Women’s World Cup in France to be staged from June 7 to July 7.

Before traveling to Ghana, the Starlets will play Uganda and Ghana in friendlies.
