National women soccer team Harambee Starlets dismantled Seychelles in their opening leg of 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games qualifying campaign in emphatic style.
under tutelage of acting new head coach Geoffrey ‘Solo’ Oduor, Kenya humiliated their hosts 11-0 playing tactical football from the first whistle to the last in a one-sided match.
the 11 goals came from Valarie Nekesa, Aira Madalina, Enez Mango, Mercy Airo and Elizabeth Mideva and Martha Amunyolet.
Starlets provided a genuine footballing education, tearing their visitors to shreds with a brand of clinical, high-energy football ahead of the second leg next Monday at the same venue.
“Our players who got the chance today to represent us have represented us well, and we are very grateful for the work they have done. It’s a good feeling, and I think we will continue with such play so that we can enjoy the results our girls will be able to give us and continue to raise the nation’s flag high,” said Oduor.
Nekesa opened the scoring for Kenya in the 8th minute for 1-0lead before Elizabeth Mutesho doubling in the 25th minute as made it 3-0 for her brace in the 43rd minute for 3-0 into break.
Kenya was on rampage in the second half with Muteshi making it 4-0 in the 54th minute. Aira Madalina bagged a brace too in the 61st and 82nd minutes as for 6-0.
Martha Amunyolete was on target in the 83rd minute for 7-0 before Mercy Airo made her brace with both the 86th and 90+1 minutes for 9-0 then another brace from Elizabeth Mideva’s brace in the 87th and 90+3 minutes sealed the 11-0 victory.
