Harambee Stars, the Kenya National football team will be facing off with various teams in this year’s Team of the Year category of the annual Safaricom Sports Personality of the Year (SOYA) awards.
Following their qualification for Africa Cup of nations (AFCON) qualification for the first time in 15 years, Harambee Stars will be facing off with Kenya Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia, The Kenya Men’s Deaf Handball team, Davis Cup team and Kanbis Sports club Croicet for the coveted Team Of the Year award set for January 11th at Fort Jesus in Mombasa.
The Stars won 1-0 against Black Stars of Ghana before procucing a barren draw against Antelopes of Ethiopia in the first leg before defeating them 3-0 in the return leg at Nairobi’s Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.
As the team waits to tavel to Ghana for the return leg, the Sebastien Migne led side gained an entry into the continental championships after Sierra Leone was banned from competition hence leading pool F with 7 points.
