Kenya football national team Harambee Stars has moved five positions up in the latest Coca-Cola/FIFA rankings that were released on Thursday morning.
The Council for East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) Senior Challenge Cup champions beat Zanzibar Heroes of Zanzibar 3-2 in post match penalties after 2 all draw in normal and extra time play to win the 7th title that has been dominated by Uganda.
The Stars moved from position 111 to 106 in the global ranking and moving to position 28th in African continent as Senegal leads the continent followed by Tunisia, Egypt, DR Congo and Morocco for top five positions.
Cecafa has boosted the Paul Put led charges that lost to Thailand and Iraq during FIFA friendly matches before the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) hired Put in November to improve the fortunes of the team.
It was a good run for Kenya that went unbeaten in the Cecafa tournament conceding only two goals that ended on Sunday at Machakos stadium.
