Hosts Thika United FC have one foot to remain in the Kenya Premier Leage (KPL) next season after winning the first leg play off against Ushuru Fc at Thika stadium today.
The KPL beat Ushuru FC 2-1 in the promotion/relegation playoff, with the two teams finishing 16th and third in the KPL and National Super league (NSL) respectively where winners will play in the top flight football while losers will play at NSL.
Musa Saad came off the bench to openthe scoring in the 31st minute before Mohammed Hassan restored parity in the 73rd.
The hosts left it late to score the winner through Nigerian Onwudi Chibueze who ghosted behind the defense unmarked to slot past Kennedy Obwanda with only four minutes left to play.
His side will now head into Sunday’s return fixture in Narok with the slim advantage, needing only a draw to secure their top flight status
