Hungry Bungoma whip Busia in Journalist football friendly match

Bungoma Journalists came from a goal down to whip their Busia Counterparts in a football friendly match played on Saturday at Busia County Stadium.

The visiting Bungoma registered a 1-2 victory against their hosts who were more composed in the first half with Benjamin Wakoli and Elias Iteba marshalling the midfield and Franklin Bwire and Gaetano Pessa playing their offensive roles.

Busia broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute courtesy Pessa with his first time shot after when he completed Iteba’s perfect pass.

With 1-0 at half time Busia suffered a setback when super striker Franklin Bwire limped off the field and was replaced by Oduya Okong’o.

Bungoma’s Conrad Kuchio equalized the score after receiving a pass from Mentor Jay as Busia’s left fullback Joseph Abuje was injured and was replaced by Collins Wesonga.

Hillary Wesonga sealed the victory for Bungoma after scoring the second goal for his team in the 68th minute with a 30m free kick that Busia goalkeeper Seth Nero failed to contain.

“In Busia we don’t become the hosts and  have the fan base and still force a win,  we become kind enough and let our guests return home with some joy,  hence the results, ” said Busia journalist Felix Odero.

Bungoma captain Duncan Kwoba said they came to Busia to win and they achieved the feat, telling their opponents to come with a basket of goals in the return leg next month in Bungoma.

Busia captain Benjamin Wakoli blamed their defeat on injuries of some of his top players, telling their opponents not to rule them out when the two teams clash again in the return leg.

Busia team head coach Ignatius Odanga said goalkeeping error cost them the match, promising to pull a surprise in the return leg.
