I have to improve our course, attract sponsors as captain- Kae

Newly elected Kitale Golf Club captain Patrick Kae is optimistic of improving the course to attract sponsors in his one year tenure.

Kae, who acted for some months following the withdrawal of then captain Niral Shah was unanimously endorsed by members to spearhead the club affairs.

The nine-hole Kitale Club remains the biggest golf course in the region with poor greens, bad fairways will soon see a new face if Kae’s promise is fulfilled.

“My first work in office is to improve on our fairways and the course at large to attract top golfing events,” said Kae.

Apart from improving the course, Kae promised to bring more sponsors for the home golfers to enjoy golf every weekend.

“In recent days, we have been missing tournament on the course but in my tenure, I want to change how we work to attract sponsors,” added Kae.

Meanwhile, Ke Matonya won the Captain and Friends golf tournament played on Saturday at Kitale golf club.

Matonya fired 70 nett ahead of Lawrence Kaptoge in the second position with two shots more on 72 nett before Humphrey Wachira completing the podium, losing to Kaptonge on countback.
