Eldoret City marathon director Moses Tanui has is optimistic that the race will outlive him and serve the generations to come.
Speaking in Eldoret while launching the 4th edition of the richest marathon in Africa that will be held on 10th April 2022, Tanui said he won Bostone marathon when they were marking 100 years.
“I want this race to outlive me because many top races across the world have lived more than 100 years. I won Boston marathon on its 100th birthday meaning those people who had started the race had long gone but I came to win, I also want this race to live as many years said the two time Boston marathon champion.
The race organisers said they have been putting measures in place to ensure the race attains global standards.
The race remains the top paying in Africa with winners, both men and women going home Sh3.5 million.
