I will break my 9.77 record- Omanyala

Africa 100m record holder Ferdinand Omanyala Omurwa has hinted that he will be breaking his Africa record set last year at the Kip Keino Classic last Saturday.

Speaking on Citizen TV by Jeff Koinange, Omanyala said that the record will not take him a year to break his record that has stayed for only five days.

Omanyala, sho broke the Akan Simbine’s Africa record of 9.84 said that the year may not end without breaking the same record.

“Simbine’s record had not lasted for two moths and I broke, meaning I have the potential to break it further anywhere in the world,” Omanyala said.

Simbine had set the South African record at on July 6th 2021 during the Hungarian Athletics Grand Prix.

After making his Diamond League debut at the Brussels, Omanyala admitted that they had a discussion with Simbine little did he know that he was going to break his record.

“I had a small discussion with him while in Brussels and he did not know that I was going to break his record. But we are friends,” added Omanyala.
