Jelagat set new record as kenyans dominate Münster Marathon

Lilian Jelagat and Ethiopian Workneh Serbessa won the 40th edition of Münster-Marathon held yesterday in Germany.

The Kenyan Jelagat ran with the course record after leading a 1-2-3-4-5 podium finish for Kenyan athletes.

She won the race in 2:27.38, erasing the then record held by Elen Gebrehiwot of 2:29.12 she set in 2013. She edged out compatriots Peris Jerono who crossed the line in second place in a time of 2:28.52 and Gladys Jerotich Kiptoo who came to this race with the fastest time on paper of 2:28.45 that she got early this year during the Rome marathon where she finished in second place, was forced to settle in third place in 2:29.17.

Naomy Chepkorir Tuei and her compatriot Brenda Jerotich Kiprono finished in fourth and fifth in a time of 2:30.18 and 2:32.09 respectively
