Fresh from winning Ndalat Gaa and University of Eldoret cross country championships, Daisy Chepkemei and Emmanuel Kipchirchir won the inaugural Bishop Cornelius Korir Memorial Peace Cross Country title held on Saturday 2nd at Eldoret Sports Club.
Jepkemei won the women’s title after two weeks when she won Isaiah Kiplagat Memorial cross country title while Kipchichir took one week to rest after winning the 29th edition of The University of Eldoret Cross country.
The former 2,000m world junior silver medalist, Jepkemei trounced her competitors like Dorcas Jepchirchir, who won The University of Eldoret cross country title last Saturday, reigning All Africa Games 1,500m gold medalist Qualine Kiprop, world under 18 800m silver medalist Lydia Jeruto among for the title.
“It was too hot for me but running infront was good for. I had to take a two weeks break to attack this race with power,” said Jepkemei who clocked 35:49.5.
Jepchirchir was second timing 36:24.5 ahead of Jepchirchir’s 36:14.5 and Kiprop’s 36:27.4.
Kipchirchir won the men’s title 31:12.2 beating Alfred Barckach (31:40.6) and Elvis Cheboi (31:49.3.
The race was meant to Commemorate the late Bishop Cornelius Korir in his second anniversary.
