Jerop, Ngeno wins inaugural Bomet County half marathon

Jerop, the 2018 Kass marathon winner won her first race this year as she plans to enter other major races across the world.

The 2018 Hannover half marathon champion won the race in 73:85 in a course that challenged most competitors.

“The greatest challenge was the course as it has not been used before and I was not familiar with the terrain, but I put my best foot forward and led from the start to the finish line,” Cherop said.

She led Jackline Chepngeno to second timing 74:16 before Margaret Agai 75:27 came third.

Running in his county of birth, former Valencia marathon winner Ng’eno claimed victory 63:03 .

“I was reluctant to participate in the competition, but at the last minute I signed up as I wanted to ensure that no athlete from another county wins the inaugural competition. It was more about protecting one’s territory from aggression,” Ng’eno said.

Ngeno edged out Josephat Boit and Ronald Kirui.
