Former Africa Athletics 3,000m steeplechase champion Norah Jeruto and newly crowned Valencia Ibercaja 10km champion Daniel Simiu Ebenyo were crowned the champions of the 31st edition of Discovery Kenya Cross country championships held today at the Eldoret Sports Club.

Jeruto, also the 2021 Valencia Ibercaja 10km champion edged out her young sister Daisy Jepkemei for the women’s 10km title.
The former world Youth 2,000m steeplechase cut the cut the tape in 33:29.6 followed by Jepkemei in 34:04.5 and Dorcas Chepchirchir Tuitoek coming in third timing 34:21.8.
Simiu won the men’s 10km in 30:14.0 ahead of Kelvin Kibiwott in 30:35.9 and Edward Cheserek completing the podium in 30:38.1.
A week after winning the national 5km Athletics Kenya cross country championships, Pamela Kosgei wants to fit into the shoes of her elder sister Brigid Kosgei after winning the 6km junior women.
The young Kosgey cut the tape in 21:17.9 beating Ednah Chepkemei to second in 21:22.2 and Sharon Chepnegtich whop was third in 21:24.6.
In 8km junior men, nandi based Ismail Kurui won the title in 24:32.3 relegating Felic Korir to second in 24:34.5 and Brian Kiplimo in third podition by clocking 24:48.7.
