Limuru Country club’s John Karichu has displaced Vet Lab’s Mike Kisia at the top of the 2017 Kenya Amateur Golf Championships table following his victory at Coronation Trophy in Nakuru last weekend.
Playing handicap one Karichu re-energysed to win Coronation Trophy picking 84 points on par 73 Nakuru Golf course to topple Kisia who had been on the top for a month ahead of Kenya Amateur Match Play at Karen Country Club this weekend.

In the 54 hole tournament, Karichu fired a total of eight over par 227 to win the Coronation Trophy, the 7th leg of KAGC series.
He played one under 72 on the final day beating Michael Karanga from Kiambu to second. Kisia, who finished 4th overall at Coronation trophy with twelve over par 231 to collect 24 points, moved to second place on the table with 215 points behind Karichu who has 226.3 points.
Karichu, the 2015 Golfer of the Year (GOTY) winner had a slow start in the series but improved slowly and during Trans Nzoia Open in Kitale, he finished 5th overall.
He started well at Sigona Bowl with 80 points at Sigan club, collected 7.5 low points at Mount Kenya Championships, 24 points at Muthaiga Open, another low score of 7 points during Windsor Classic, 13.8 points at Winston Churchill at Thika Sports, 10.0 points in the Trans nzoia Open in Kitale and a whooping 84.0 points at Coronation Trophy.
