Former world javelin champion Julius Yego recorded victory at the Motonet Grand Prix, World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meeting held yesterday in Lahti, Finland.
After failing to win in many events, especially at the Doha Diamond League and Kip Keino Classic, Yego had a strong comeback with a commanding win ahead of World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan come September.
The 37 year old Yego, the 2015 world champion threw a season-best 82.95m for the title ahead of Trinidad and Tobago’s Olympic medallist Keshorn Walcott (79.98m) and home favourite Taneli Juutinen (78.24m).
Yego’s personal best stands at 92.72m an African and Kenyan record set in 2015. Despite the years, he’s not done chasing greatness.
