Top athletes dominated the National Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association held at the Moi Girls Eldoret and Kipchoge Keino stadium.
In sprints, Rebecca Juma from Misimu girls’ won three out of three races she competed in (100m, 100m hurdles and 200m).
Nyangori’s Alvin Inyanga won the 200m title beating Kipsindet’s Duncan Kipngeno and Gigodi’s Dennis Mwai.
Emmanuel Soita was victorious in the boys’ 400m when he clocked 51.3 beating Kiambogo’s Alex Ormoi (51.6) and Butere’s Brian Naika (52.0) in that order.
Beatrice Machoka was the winner in 58.4 followed closely by Yvonne Mwangale (59.3) of Khakonya and Alice Ekiru (59.5) from Kondabilet coming third.
Maurine Cherotich won the 10,000m title in cold weather when she clocked 36:15.1.
The kalyet high school student said that she did not know that she would win but the victory was a dream come true.
She managed to beat her school mate Faith Cherotich to second position after timing 36:55.1 and Nkanga’s Mukonene in 39:04.6.
Mercy Chepkemoi (9:31.2) from Tiloa was the winner edging out kalyet’s Isca Chelang’at (9:38.4) from kalyet to second as Maureen Cherotich (9:43.6) from kalyet was third
