Holders Uganda stunned Junior Starlets, the National under 17 women’s team at the CECAFA Under 17 Women’s Championships at the KMC stadium, Tanzania.
Uganda were 3-0 winners at the semifinals, eliminating the Mildred Checeh coached side a chance to win a maiden title.
With the results, Kenya will bow battle for bronze medal play offs.
The Teen Cranes’ Shadia Nabirye handed Uganda the lead in the 12th minute for a 1-0 lead before Immaculate Acen doubled to make it 2-0 at the break.
Uganda struck again courtesy of Ayerango to seal the 3-0 victory to book the final.
The match was a revenge after Kenya eliminated Uganda from the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers. In Kampala, Kenya drew 1-1 then a draw of 0-0 in Nairobi and Kenya progressed with an away goal rule.
Kenya reached the semi-finals unbeaten, recording victories over Sudan and Somalia before drawing with hosts Tanzania to finish second in Group A. Uganda also topped pool B with wins over South Sudan, Zanzibar and Djibouti.
However, there was dram when Kenya was docked off 16-0 win over Sudan to hand them 3-0 to deny a chance to top pool A hence facing Uganda.
